Glasgow Marxists: The Cuban Revolution - 60 years on

For 60 years the Republic of Cuba has stood firm against its northern neighbour -- the United States -- and all its attempts to re-impose capitalist and imperialist domination.

As Marxists we defend the historical progress of the Cuban Revolution of 1959 that abolished landlordism and capitalism on the island, and led to unprecedented rises in living standards for the working class and poor. This progress is jeopardised, however, by the US economic blockade which seeks to isolate and strangle the Cuban people into submission, and the threat of a return to capitalism through drip-by-drip "market reforms".

New revolutionary waves can be the only way forward for socialism in Cuba and throughout Latin America.
