This past Friday, Fightback supporters in Toronto helped to organize a discussion titled, "Egypt, Tunisia -- Where Next?" at the University of Toronto.  Co-organized with the Arab Students' Associations at U of T and Ryerson University, the meeting was well-attended despite an impromptu celebration rally organized for the same time at Yonge-Dundas Square.

Thousands gathered in London’s Trafalgar Square on Saturday (12th February) to celebrate the departure of the hated, now former president, Hosni Mubarak. The gathering was actually called as a demonstration against the regime and to demand the resignation of Mubarak. However, events have moved at such a rate that the despot had tendered his resignation the day the before. Therefore, the event was now a party in the centre of London to concur with the one in Tahrir Square.

While Obama sits bewildered as he watches the Egyptian masses overthrow the hated dictator Mubarak, in the United States there are workers, trade unionists, youth and socialist activists who rejoice at the scenes we have been witnessing in these historical moments in Egypt. Here we publish a speech by the Editor of the US Socialist Appeal, John Peterson.
